The bad news first: Suicides in Sweden is decreasing, but not among young people. Every year, more than 5,000 girls and boys try to take their own lives. Three a week die.

Now the good news: Within suicide prevention, we talk about various protective factors, i.e. things that protect us from taking our own lives. Research shows that one of the most important protective factors you can have in life is the ability to be able to express feelings and to be able to tell how you feel.

The project Essential Talks of Life started as a book that was sent out to all parents in Sweden with a 9-year kid at home. Now, +500 000 copies later it has been translated to several languages and is part of the Swedish educational system.
